The Etwall Art Group has been in existence since 1972 when a small group of local artists got together to show their paintings at the Etwall Well Dressings.
The main event each year was the organisation of the Well Dressing Exhibition which has continued until the present day, coming up now for 43 years.
There are painting demonstrations given by well-known artists each month. Also workshops and outings are organised throughout the year.
The Etwall Art Group has been held in various venues over the years and is now held in the Frank Wickham Hall in Etwall. There are at present forty members with a large waiting list. The group meets weekly to paint and generate ideas, also to encourage each other, but mostly to meet up and have fun. Visitors are welcome to join us at our monthly art demonstrations, given by professional well known artists. Details of the dates are given in the yearly events calendar, or by telephoning or emailing the secretary.
Etwall Art Group will be holding its Annual Art Exhibition in the Frank Wickham Hall during the Well Dressing weekend in 2016, where there will be original framed and mounted pictures on display. A painting by a well-known Derbyshire artist will be raffled. Refreshments will be available throughout Saturday and Sunday, provided by members of the art group. The exhibition will be open Saturday 21st May 9.30am-6.00pm and Sunday 22nd May 9.30am-5.30pm
This will be followed by the Etwall art group Art Exhibition to be held in Burton Library for two weeks from 24th October to 7th November 2016
Please come along to have a look at the work of our members!
The Art Group meets most Tuesday afternoons from 2pm until 4pm in the Frank Wickham Hall, the only exception being the Christmas holidays. If the weather is good then we might be out plein air painting.
