The main bus shelter on the Village Green in front of the school is constructed of stone from the old Etwall Hall.
The Villager bus service V1 (see timetable) provides easy travel to Derby or Burton.
Behind John Port is the Etwall Leisure Centre which has public swimming pool, tennis and squash courts.
Etwall Primary School is at the top of Egginton Road just by the King George V Playing Field. On this playing field there is a well equipped children’s play area and a football pitch. The Frank Wickham Hall (Community Centre) and Library are situated on its boundaries as is the Etwall Bowls Club. There is a second football pitch situated on the Sandypits Lane playing field. Etwall has two churches serving the Anglican and Methodist communities. St Helen’s Church is situated prominently on Church Hill, just beyond the village green and the Methodist Church is a few yards past the post office on Willington Road. In addition, a Roman Catholic church is situated in the neighbouring village of Mickleover.
Just behind the almshouses is the Etwall Cricket Club where you can watch the village teams play most weekends during the summer or enjoy the facilities of their clubhouse.

There are a number of places to eat and/or drink in and around Etwall:
- The Hawk and Buckle Inn, almost opposite the Church
- The Blenheim House Hotel and restaurant has conference facilities and also incorporates a beauty salon.
- The Spread Eagle, the oldest pub in Etwall, is situated in the village centre opposite the village green
- The Seven Wells, an ‘Eating Inn’ pub just off the roundabout on the A516 road out to Mickleover
